Dominican University, in partnership with University Alliance, is proud to offer the Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarships for students newly enrolling into one of the three online Master of Arts in Education programs. Dominican’s MAEd degrees are designed for working teachers committed to gaining the skills needed to teach in today’s classroom. Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarships support the ongoing career and professional development of teachers who have already made a difference in the lives of others.

Scholarship Information

The Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarships will award two (2) scholarships each session for one year (six sessions in the 12-month year) commencing with Fall I 2011, then again in Fall II, Spring I 2012, Spring II, Summer I and Summer II. The scholarship is valued at $465 per course, which represents 33% of the current tuition price, and will be applied to every course through to graduation. The amount is based on the 2011-12 tuition rate of $1,395 for a 3-credit graduate-level course. The dollar value will adjust with any tuition changes, with the value remaining at 33%. Who is Eligible?

These scholarships will be awarded to first-time applicants of Dominican University’s online Master of Arts in Education degree programs. 

How to Apply

  • The applicant must submit a written explanation demonstrating how he/she has made a difference in the lives of others. Applicant should include all teaching-related awards, recognitions, etc., received, including attainment of National Board Certification, if applicable. The essay should be no more than 750 words in length.
  • The applicant must submit a written recommendation of no more than 500 words from the principal of the school where he/she is currently teaching, on school or district letterhead, including contact details for the principal.
  • Scholarship applicant must have at least a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) from a regionally accredited school, regardless of when course credits were earned; or, be a graduate of a regionally accredited master’s, specialist or doctoral program in which a cumulative graduate GPA of at least 3.0 was earned.
